The World / Inferno Friendship Society Presents: Peter Lorre's 20th
Century @ Spiegeltent!!!

New York, NY 10001 Cost: $15
New York's own World/Inferno Friendship Society
returns from a national tour to premiere "Fiend in Wien: Peter Lorre's Twentieth Century", a punk rock
song cycle in twelve parts in which the life of the iconic character actor.
The disturbingly cult-like globetrotting punk orchestra from
Brooklyn is pleased to present this examination of the much-overlooked yet beloved figure, in
song.
About Spiegeltent: "From their beginnings in Belgium at the turn of the last century,
these iconic tents have been traveling the world as part of arts festivals and fairs. The famous and
the infamous have performed in these hallowed halls. Made from finest teak and beveled mirrors, and
looked after lovingly by a small band of owners, these exceptional venues have never failed to
enthrall, delight, surprise and seduce.
Gin And Tonics All Night Long! - 08/15/06
In what has to be one of the worst kept secrets on the east coast, BANKSHOT! Records is proud to announce
the upcoming release of the DELUXE, GATEFOLD, COLORED VINYL, DOUBLE-LP version of the new World/Inferno Friendship Society album, Red Eyed Soul. An instant classic, this genre-bending double album was produced
by the LEGENDARY Don Fury (the man behind classic records from Sonic Youth, Gorilla Biscuits, Nausea, and The Cromags) at Cyclone Studios in our very own Brooklyn, NY. The gang also got a little
help from hotshot producer/engineer, and all around cool dude, Tim O'Heir (All-American Rejects, Say Anything, Slapshot, The Explosion) who put the finishing touches on the record's bonus tracks.
This special 2xLP edition of Red Eyed Soul contains three previously unreleased recordings, not available on the CD. It also features super swank embossed gatefold packaging
on textured paper. Did we mention this 18 track behemoth is being pressed up on clear-red vinyl with 4-color labels? Spicy.
The deluxe 2xLP edition of Red Eyed Soul will be available for purchase beginning Tuesday, August 29th. Oh wait, whats this? Is it a pre-order link from our buddies at Interpunk? Good times.
Do Your Best Not To Occupy This Space - 06/06/06
Jonny Pics 1980-2006
This is one of the hardest things I have ever hard to write, so I will start by keeping it
simple.
Jonny Pics from Boston, MA has been a very close friend of mine for the last five
years. In addition to photographing big-name-indie acts like Rilo Kiley, Interpol,
The Libertines, The Explosion and Modest Mouse, he's shot many of the bands on this
label (Leftover Crack, The Glow and Sixgun Radio), as well as many of our friends'
bands (The Bronx, The Static Age and The River City Rebels to name a few.) In a pinch,
Jonny has also helped me out with label shit I needed taken care of in Boston. I would
hang out with Jon whenever I was up there, and every once in a while Jon and his friends
would crash here in Brooklyn. In addition to being an amazing photographer, Jonny was
also keyboardist in an up and coming Boston band called The Chainletter.
On Tuesday May 15th I talked to Jon over the phone. The Glow were leaving for tour in
a few days, and I wanted to know if he could take some last minute photos of the band
with their new bass player. Even on such short notice Jon agreed, and we decided they
would take pictures the following Thursday. I said I would have Ben call him so he could
coordinate with the band, and that was that. Thursday came and went and Ben's phone
call went unreturned.
On Wednesday night , May 16th Jon died of an overdose. He was 26. When I found out it
felt like someone had cut off an arm. I couldn't believe it. I still can't.
If you or someone you know is currently using, please learn from Jon's mistakes and get
help. You can view some of Jon's photography at http://www.visualvocabulary.org
Jon, you were one of a kind. We are all worse off for your loss. I will miss you buddy.

STOCKYARD STOICS NEED NEW DRUMMER! - 11/23/05
Brooklyn's Finest, Stockyard Stoics are in need of a new drummer. Joe Piglet has sent out an all-points-bulletin for cool dudes in the NYC-Metro area:
You gotta play real good and be nice and love the kids.
We play 77-ish punk rock with excursions into fast hardcore punk
and slow melodic ska-reggae-ness. Formative listening was the
Clash, Stiff Little Fingers, Pogues, Bob Marley, DOA, etc.
You will get to record an awesome record and tour to exotic
locales. You will not get money or rock star indulgence. You may
get free beer sometimes, especially in Europe. No political
resume is required but we tend towards PC lefty [politics] so
please no boneheads. No women who take 45 minutes to put on
make-up or men who want to be in a band for all the hot snatch.
Please.
Most of all it is important to be excited about recording and
touring, expanding your DIY punk rock horizons, and playing a
few great shows and a bunch of half-assed ones. An added bonus
will be if you do not mind adopting the punk nickname "Das
Thud."
We eagerly await your email.
